Page 1 - The Initial Letter
Entering into the new school year of 2020, it felt so unreal that school was actually starting to occur. Having roughly five months of no school and having fun were truly the best times of my life. And when I heard school was starting online, my expectations were doubtful and negative. However, I learned later on that online school seemed to be better than I expected.
March 13 was the last day of “school” to see my fellow classmates and acquaintances. My initial thoughts of online school, as it started to happen, was an extremely difficult transition for me. I feel as though I am a social person and the isolation as well as the learning environment was different than no other. It really fazed me how the new online “school” was starting to come about.
Knowing how online school worked, my initial thoughts of it were not positive and quite resentful. This was because during zoom calls, people would not pay attention and mess around on their phones since the teachers couldn’t really see or do anything about it.The start of this school year, I learned that there would be more structure and arrangement in our school day instead of a few zooms and assignments. I was originally upset because I wanted to have more free time with friends and family. However, the set out zoom times have helped me develop the skills I need throughout High School.
This being my first year in leadership, I was disappointed that I wouldn’t get the whole experience of planning Homecoming, rallies, making videos and even joining Core Camp in Santa Cruz. Since school started, I have learned something important about Leadership. I fully understood what Leadership is about. Even though we do not have the events and dances to plan, I still feel as though I am a leader and that I have a purpose. My job isn’t as specific in my roles as a technology commissioner than it would be during school; however, this doesn’t mean that our program has no purpose. Part of leadership is to adapt to the circumstances, and online school is one of these things.

“However difficult life may seem, there is always something you can do and succeed at.” -Stephen Hawking
This quote inspires me everyday as it gives me motivation in life to try and achieve success within myself. Although the quote may seem short, it is meaningful to me and shows how important it is to always try your best at whatever life throws at you which in turn makes you an overall better person with higher confidence and determination.
“You’re braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.” -A.A. Milne
This quote shows how powerful you seem. As the quote starts off, we are more fearless than we think which reveals how strong we are as an individual and how you never really know your limitations until you believe in yourself. Also, the following quote explains how you are also stronger and smarter than you can even imagine.
“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition” -Steve Jobs
This quote really just shows how your time is valuable. Time is a key aspect in everyone's lives and you can’t let anyone besides yourself change your outlook and opinions on things. Steve Jobs is saying that you have to be your own person and that you have the power to follow yourself. The quote really hits me deep as it shows how not to change yourself from other people and shows how to become the best you can be.

“All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.” -Walt Disney
This quote represents me by being a strong leader and always pursuing my dreams. The quote impacts future students by showing them how to live their lives and to be a strong leader. This is important because as long as you try, you will pursue your dreams. Self reflection is important because it shows you to look at yourself in a neutral way. Whether it’s your thoughts, emotions, physical appearance, or actions it is important to see yourself and what you've become and what you want to do in life. A simple statement can make a considerable difference in your life by keeping that simple phrase in mind; allowing yourself to persevere through the trials and tribulations.

Page 4 - Goals
Leadership Goals
- I want to be a successful technology commissioner by always creating fun interactive videos and edits.
- This is my first year working with leadership and being a technology commissioner. I want to make this year memorable with everyone in it by creating more videos for everyone to see. Since covid has happened, creating virtual films and backgrounds have been the norm. So, I just want to overall be a successful commissioner.
- Improving on public speaking skills as well as interactive within the class and the people in it
- As I said previously, this is my first year in leadership. Due to the pandemic, we have been doing online school and I have been more socially awkward with interacting with my classmates. I want to change this and become more outgoing towards everyone!
Short Term Goals
- I want to pass my classes this year and ap exams
- As my short term goal of passing all my classes with A’s this year, I also want to include how I want to pass my AP exams. With passing my AP exams, college will be cheaper and easier for me. Passing my classes with A’s also helps me get into a better college and makes me feel more confident in myself.
- I want to get into a four year college
- Another one of my short term goals is to attend a four year college. This is because I want to follow in my mom and dad's footsteps of becoming successful. While attending college, I would potentially see my future wife and create amazing memories there.
Long Term Goals
- I want to live in a home that is paid off for potentially raise a family
- As a long term goal, I plan on owning my own home one day and potentially raising a family. I have always wanted my own home with my own rules. Knowing from my parents how to clean and due chores, I hope to do that with my home one day and pass that down to my potential family.
- I want to do real estate on the side
- Another one of my long term goals is to do real estate. Learning from my dad and grandpa, I learned how to flip houses and rent them out to people. I want to eventually own homes to rent out to people and earn a profit from that. Also, this seems like a good way to make extra money on the side and I also want to pass this down to my children as it was passed down to me.

- I want to be a successful technology commissioner by always creating fun interactive videos and edits.
- During my first year as a technology commissioner, I have created a lot of fun and interactive videos/edits for everyone to see. This includes club rush videos, gratitude video, end of the year video, and helping with the sound systems for rallies.
- Improving on public speaking skills as well as interactive within the class and the people in it
- I have improved on public speaking skills due to interacting with professionals such as the recent mock interviews. These mock interviews were set up to where it was like an actual interview. Also we had in class speeches where we had to present our topic in front of the class.
- I want to pass my classes this year and ap exams
- So far, I have passed all of my classes which include 4 AP, 1 honors, and leadership. With my ap exams, I intend to still pass them and have studied for countless hours; hopefully achieving my goal.
- I want to get into a four year college
- I am working to get into a four year college and by doing this, I have grown as a better person in doing so. I have worked hard at school, maintaining a 4.0+ gpa.

Page 9 - The Role Model
Who is someone that you admire and has made an impact on your life? This can be both positive or negative so long as it has changed you for the better. Reflect on the souls around you and see the gift they have given you. You will need a picture and a 5-10 sentence paragraph write up on the person.
Someone I admire and has made an impact on my life was my mom. My mom inspires me everyday because she is a strong and independent woman. Everyday, she goes to work and works at least 8 hours just to come home to cook. My mom is loving and caring and helps me through all of my struggles that come my way. She always tries to make me happy and constantly tells me how much she loves me. Words can not show how much I love and appreciate all that she has done for me. My mom is my hero and most of all, a caring and loving person.

Page 10 - The Inner Animal
What animal describes your personality best? Veterans, look at today the present moment rather than the past. Is your animal the same? Please provide a picture and a 10-20 sentence paragraph discussing why this animal represents you.
An animal that describes my personality is a monkey. This is because monkeys tend to be nimble and intelligent. I would say for myself that I am nimble and also observant. Monkeys, in any situation, are observant of their surroundings. Monkeys are also very energetic and well versed at problem solving. I would consider myself as both energetic and ethical at problem solving. Monkeys are social creatures and they are also quite adaptable. However, there are negatives of a monkey. Like myself, monkeys are easily frustrated and irritable. This may not always be a bad thing however; there are still multiple other positive traits of a monkey that describe me.

Page 11 - The Season of Giving
1. What did you choose to do for your final and why?
I chose to go do option number 1 of taking part in the Giving Tree Project for my final. This was my first year of doing this type of project so I didn’t know what to really expect. Almost everyday, I went to specific locations in order to get these tags but there weren't any. Due to the low amounts of gift tags at Ace, Tractor Supply, and Ripon High School’s front office, I had to improvise. Instead, I participated in Jaydin Kroutil’s Grandmas homeless shelter gift drive which was very much like the Giving Tree. I wanted to do this option because I wanted to help others in need during the holidays. Ever since I was a little boy, I have always celebrated Christmas with my loved ones. I imagine others will not be able to do so, which is why I chose to give back this season to an individual in need.
2. Describe the process that you went about in getting your final completed.
This year was quite difficult to get the gift tag from Ace, Tractor Supply, and the Ripon High School’s front office. I went every other day after school to try to pick up the gift tag. However, each time there was none and my final was going to an end. I decided to message Jaydin Kroutil and ask her about her grandma's homeless shelter giveaway. I looked forward to the mission and went to Target to get a $25 gift card. Afterwards, I went to Jaydin’s house to drop it off and let her know I did so.
3. What was the emotional impact on you in completing your final?
The emotional impact on this final was gratifying and valuable to me. Being able to give back during the holidays really made me feel accomplished as children are able to receive gifts and parents don’t need to stress about it. Since it is the season of giving, I am grateful for having the privilege of being able to give to those in need.
4. Was this assignment valuable? Why or why not?
The assignment was definitely valuable to me. The assignment showed me how to give back during the holidays and allowed me to see the world around me. I never knew so many families were struggling mentally and physically. This just made me a tad more happy by helping people in need. I appreciate this final because it is by far one of my favorites with my other 6 classes having long tests and essays.

Page 12 - The Best Thing About Me
The first picture of me represents my love for animals and traveling. Ever since I was young, I would travel around the world with my family and explore the unknown. Now, it is a hobby of mine to visit new animals and see how significant and elegant they are. I always feel happy when I travel as it is an escape from the real world.
My next photo is my best friend and I working out together. Ever since the beginning of march, I started to focus on myself and workout. Having a partner who lifts more than you also helps as it makes me want to work harder. I like having my best friend Ryan help lift and spot me for exercises. Also, working out is a way to bond with my friend and a way to get my mind off of things.
Picture three represents the fun we have in leadership. Not only do we help with school, we have fun doing it. It is always a blast bonding with other classmates and sharing a connection that can’t be broken. While in the zoom classes, we discuss dances, events, and how to improve as a leader.
The last photo shows my dad and I snowboarding. Ever since I could remember, I have always been snowboarding with my dad. Although he doesn’t snowboard, he skis down the mountain faster than me. Snowboarding is something I love to do every year with my family and friends and it is a way to bond with each other.

Page 13: What I like Best About Being a Member of Leadership
Even during the pandemic, Leadership has still been fun despite being online. I love connecting to new people and meeting people I haven’t seen around the campus. Being able to communicate with people has been a pleasant experience through leadership. Isolation at home has not been fun at all but with the after school zooms with my teacher and classmates, it is always a blast. While bonding with my fellow classmates, we also discuss how to improve the mind. This is one of my favorite things to do as we read chapters of the book “Don’t sweat the small stuff.” The book shows you how to be a better person and how to mentally prepare yourself. Leadership is a family who shares bonds with each other. The class is by far different than any other class you joined. Leadership shows you how to also be a better leader along with achieving personal growth.

Page 14: Homecoming
My favorite part of the adapted homecoming this year was the night rally and preparing for it. The experience was like no other and preforming around everyone was amazing! While preparing for the dance, we practiced for countless hours at everyones house and learned to cooperate with each other. While at the night rally, I was in charge of music and recoding. The music aspect was definitely stressful at times, however, the experience was worthwhile.
Page 15: What I love to do...
I love to hangout with my friends. In doing so, we go fishing, snowboarding, rafting, gaming, and just hangout. Fishing with my friends or by myself is one if not my favorite hobbies. My friends and I would catch some fish at the river, skin it, and then fry the fish up and call it supper. I would also drive down with my friends and family to Boreal, or even Dodge Ridge to go snowboarding. Adding on to my hobbies, I love to play games. The toxicity in the Call Of Duty lobbies are immaculate due to the fact that no one takes things in a serious manner. Gaming is indeed fun when playing with friends and beating the enemy teams while they rage on and on. Another hobby of mine is traveling. I love to travel to the beach with my friends on a day trip as well as travel outside of the country with my family.
Page 16: Letter to Parents/Guardians
Hey Mom and Dad, I just wanted to tell you how much you’ve meant to me as you’ve guided and loved me throughout my whole life. From very early on you taught me the importance of family, trust and love. You’ve taught me to value myself and to value others. You have taught me again and again to never give up and to follow my dreams. When I was sick or scared you would stay with me and help me get through anything. You taught me to laugh and to use my imagination when times were tough. You shared your stories and always let me make up my own mind no matter how dumb it may be. You made every birthday and holiday perfect and special, just by bringing the family together and caring for me. I want to thank you for (though it might seem silly) letting me have crazy hairstyles and letting me shave off the middle of my hair. For loving me exactly the way I am and telling me you’re proud of me. You have helped me become who I am through all the love you have provided and all the amazing lessons you have taught. So, no matter what, I just wanted to thank you and let you know that I love you. You are the best parents in the world.

As technology commissioner, you are expected to deal with all music set up as well as create all videos Morty asks. Despite any homework or tests you have, leadership comes first; creating the videos are essential. Setting up the speakers and music can be hard at first to learn, but it will hopefully be easier as it comes by. You need to make sure to try constantly and always do your best to work/try on anything. The expectation is to always be open and ready to help with whatever Morty needs. This includes all of our rallies and other events that require sound or music. On top of all this, you had to set up for the videos that Morty requires. With this being said, you should always try your best at creating them even if you have no idea what is going on. You'll need to learn how to work the software and also need to learn how to run the actual app.Honestly, it will be hard but you can learn how to do it with time and patience. When creating the end of the year video, do not wait until the last minute like I did. It was a huge mistake that I totally regret and you should learn from my mistakes. On top of all this, you should film everything you get a chance to see. Although it may seem embarrassing or even cringey, it is all worth it in the end. Especially how the end of the year video will turn out to be. Hopefully, once you get all the clips, you should be ready to make phenomenal videos. Don’t take highschool to seriously and have fun. Honestly, live in the moment as well. You will regret a lot if you don’t just live and have fun. Also, learn to have low stress and work under pressure. It is a great skill to learn. Even though this may seem lame, it is essential to work on those skills. Another tip is to participate in everything. Participation will take you everywhere in life. As long as you participate, get involved, and attend everything you do, you will have a fun high school experience.
Page 18: Do’s and Don’ts List (as best as you can with all things COVID)
Do: make sure all technology is charged properly
Do: make sure you start videoing everything from the beginning of the year
Do: make sure photos are backed up
Do: make sure be on time early to set up technology
Do: make sure you work hard and try your best
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Don’t: procrastinate and wait last minute to create videos
Don’t: be late to events where you have to set up for technology
Don’t: leave your mess and for others to clean up after you
Don’t: be rude and instead make friends with everyone
Don’t: make Morty upset or all hell breaks loose

Page 19: The Professional
A skill that was developed in class was time management especially with covid. With videos being created, it was essential that I had enough time to do it. While balancing my 4 other AP classes, I learned to time manage everything. I would often complete videos as soon as I could and come to all events to set up. Another skill we talked about in class was efficiency. With this being said, I have learned to be efficient. With my classes and leadership course, being efficient was essential due to covid and not being able to attend school. I learned to always try my best and succeed in the said topic. Time management and efficiency are the professional skills I have learned throughout my leadership class.
Page 20: Change
A time of frustration was a time where I look back and think, why was I so mad or even upset. As I set up the sound system for the first time, I didn’t receive any help to actually set up the music. I had to figure out how to work the actual sound system with no help which was quite frustrating. Looking back, I realized that I stressed for no reason at all. I notice that I could have accomplished everything by myself. Also, another time I felt frustration was having to edit all by myself. Having to learn the software was certainly not fun. I had to look at youtube videos for days in order to fully understand the editing process. On top of that, being put under a deadline did not make it any better, I should have already learned everything before I even started the process and learned how to video as well. I also had a lack of efficiency throughout creating the videos. I felt as if it were pointless and that no one would even see them. But I soon realized that everyone in the whole school would view them and see how articulate the videos were. A change for the future class can be how people should be more positive as well as inspirational about school and the activities we do. In doing these, we can make the school a better place and make the students and teachers feel safe in a protective environment. A problem that occurs is that people don’t try enough. Students should be inspired by what the leadership class does and try. As of right now, students simply do not care and try enough to do anything. Our leadership class can try to do some positive things such as activities that students can participate in. However, there is a pandemic. Since this year was like no other, we had to differentiate the new activities with events. Everything we did this year was done at the amphitheater and improvised with the sound system that I learned how to set up. Because of this, students felt somewhat more enthusiastic about the whole covid situation. Our leadership class as a whole should work to inspire and create a positive community for the school.
Page 21: The Ideal Leader
The definition of a leader is a person who leads or commands a group, organization, or country. However, this isn’t the case in our leadership class. Leadership is much more than authority and recognition from the outside world. It is more than commanding or leading a group of people. Leadership is about developing people and helping others reach their full potential. It's about equipping others with the right tools and strategies, not only to maximize the success of an organization, but also the lives of individuals.
